We are delighted to announce that Professor Ian Roberts has agreed to open the Conference with a keynote speech on environmentally aware emergency medicine.

Practical Level One Ultrasound Course for Emergency Physicians

What the course offers:

  • An introduction to level one ED based ultrasound, looking specifically at FAST (focused abdom inal sonography in trauma), aortic ultrasound and ultrasound guided vascular access
  • Summary of ultrasound physics and a session on machine “knobology”
  • Presentations on FAST, aorta, vascular access, ultrasound in the ED setting
  • Plenty of hands on practice with demonstrator involvement
  • Advice on log books, on-going training, competency, recommended college standards and triggered assessments
  • How to set up an ultrasound course
  • CEM recognised certificate in level one ultrasound course attendance

Ultrasound imageWho the course is geared towards:

  • Trainees in emergency medicine, ideally SpR 3 or above (but not necessarily)
  • Consultants in emergency medicine who wish to improve their skills in ultrasound application

Course faculty:

Five consultants in emergency medicine with experience in ED based ultrasound and a track record in ultrasound teaching
