Mr Chris Rudge FRCS - National Clinical Director for Transplantation

Having worked as a Consultant Renal Transplant Surgeon in London for many years, I moved to UK Transplant in 2001, initially as Medical Director and subsequently, after the establishment of NHSBT in 2005, as Executive Director.

In September 2008, I took up the new post of National Clinical Director for Transplantation in the Department of Health in London. This role is primarily to oversee implementation of the recommendations of the Organ Donation Taskforce that were published in January 2008, but in addition I work closely with the transplant policy team in the Department on more general aspects of organ donation and transplantation.
