Introduction

On behalf of the organising Committee I would like to invite you to join us in Brighton in April 2009 for the Spring Scientific Conference. Brighton is a wonderful place to work, and the whole team are really looking forward to welcoming you to our lively 24 hour City.  Brighton is a rich mix of Regency heritage, boutique shopping, arts, beachfront cool & year round events. Brighton really does have it all.

Our conference venue is the magnificent and recently restored Dome in the heart of this most vibrant and engaging of cities in the UK, which just happens to be on the glorious Sussex coast. We have teamed up with visitbrighton to offer you a wide range of approved accommodation for all tastes and pockets. Click on our accommodation page to expedite your booking.

Our themes are the Patient Journey and making emergency medicine more environmentally aware. To this latter aim, we are trying to make this a high-data low-paper conference. We encourage you to book on online, book accommodation online and submit abstracts online. You won’t be greeted with a conference pack but a conference stick. This will hold all you need, including information from our sponsors. As far as we are aware, this is the first time this has ever been attempted.

The first doctors have just qualified from Brighton, and we offer some pointers on training and making your school popular.

Our venue will be richly supplied with AV support, as well as guides to ensure your conference is enjoyable as well as academically fulfilling.

What we will not skimp on is quality. We are doing our bit by sourcing locally, with wonderful Sussex food and drink for a social programme we defy you not to enjoy, a night of fun at the end of the pier with dodgems, fish and chips and karaoke on the first night, and a wonderful formal meal with unforgettable entertainment for the second night.

If you must fly, we have Gatwick less than an hour away. Try coaches, trains and car-sharing to make the most of our fabulous transport links. Come, enjoy, take ideas and leave only footprints.
